Cliveden Conservation has developed winter covers specially for the protection of sculpture and decorative stonework during the winter months.
The freezing, wet conditions in winter can be extremely damaging to garden statues and other stonework. Winter covers can offer thermal protection during these times. The development and testing of the products was carried out in conjunction with the National Trust, and we continue to provide technical advice as to their use and creation. The covers are created from a three-layer system: the outer layer being waterproof and windproof high density weave polyester, the insulation is ‘Flectalon’, an extremely lightweight shredded polymer and aluminium fibre and the inner layer is made from ‘Ripstop’, which prevents moisture absorption yet allows the object to breathe. The material has good resistance to UV, chemical and fungal attack and can be cleaned easily in a commercial washing machine. If you are interested in purchasing these bespoke covers for your external stonework and statuary please get in touch.
