Working for Cliveden Conservation
Cliveden Conservation is an award-winning company and one of the country’s leading experts for the conservation of stone masonry, terracotta, plaster, wall-paintings and the decorative arts.
Our current vacancies…
HEAD OF DECORATIVE ARTS
Full time, fixed term 2-year contract with potential to extend
Salary negotiable depending on experience & qualifications
The Decorative Arts section is at the centre of our service. Projects include work in both museums and the country house, as well as research, surveys & advisory work, covering:
• Decorative Surfaces
With projects ranging in value from below £10,000 to over £1million, the growth of this section has outstripped our staff capacity. Our current section head is seconded to our largest central London major projects portfolio, therefore we are seeking someone to lead the team for at least the next two years.
As head of this busy, fast-paced and demanding section your primary objectives will be to provide outstanding leadership and motivate the excellent teams (both direct employees and sub-contractors who have a long association with our company).
You will be an experienced project manager, with hands-on experience of running jobs in at least two of the materials listed above, one of which should be statuary, which run to programme, produce a profit and exceed our exacting clients’ high standards of excellence in conservation. You will have ACR accreditation or at least be working towards achieving it. An understanding of statuary and object conservation is a must.
You will be able to juggle a demanding work load, be adept at deploying the best team to each project and quickly establish a professional dialogue with the MD, who, as head of the Advisory section – the internal conduit for many of the Dec Arts jobs, is the key point of contact for the best conservation methodologies and professional advice.
You will be a visible and credible manager who will quickly earn the respect of the team of conservators who number ICON accredited, skilled and experienced craftspeople who excel in both practical conservation and theoretical report and survey writing.
You will present a professional face of Cliveden Conservation to liaise with the wide spectrum of clients we attract and be sensitive to the sometimes conflicting demands of advisors, clients, architects and accountants.
Application is by submission of a copy of your CV and a covering letter stating why you fit the criteria in the person specification. Please send to email@example.com with the subject heading: Head of Dec Arts vacancy

We are seeking someone to help us organise the yard at our headquarters workshop near Taplow. This is a very practical role and will need someone who is happy to jump on a forklift (with appropriate training provided if you don’t have a ticket), move our fleet of vehicles, help with orders, deliveries and keep things tidy, H&S compliant and efficient.
You will be supporting our Section Heads who look after their own materials and equipment but there are shared areas and resources that need a keen eye for tidiness, stock levels and logistics. This role works very much in tandem with our Delivery Driver who drops materials to site (and helps clear, too) where the majority of our works take place, across London and the Home Counties. You might need to occasionally help out in this aspect, so experience of driving up to a 4-tonne tail lift vehicle (on an ordinary up to Class D licence) would be a great advantage.
If you like to work with a great team in a busy, friendly environment, then please call the office (Tel: 01628 604721) and ask to speak to Penny or Lewis for an informal chat about us and what the job entails and download the full job description.
Application is by submission of a copy of your CV and a covering letter stating why you fit the criteria in the person specification. Please send to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject heading: Yard Supervisor.
