Statuary Conservation

Casting & Carving | Repair & Maintenance | Transport & Installation

Our strength and knowledge of the techniques and materials of statuary conservation is the foundation of our success. With this expertise we are well placed to produce exemplary work in the related fields of stone and plasterwork.

We have been appointed for the care and maintenance of the National Trust Country House collection of antique and 18th century garden sculpture, including the five major collections of Petworth House, Waddesdon House, Cliveden, Anglesey Abbey and Powys Castle.

We have undertaken conservation work on several important sculptures in public and private hands in England, and are advisors to collections in Ireland and a national collection of antique sculpture in Turkey.

But our stonework is not confined to conservation. We have recently completed commissions for carving and casting new works of stone sculpture. (For new carving see Masonry & Carving Section).

Cliveden Conservation also advise on the transportation and display of museum collections, as well as on the long term maintenance and security of sculpture and garden ornament for both the UK and overseas.
